SA: 11 Woomera detainees still on run
Just one policeman remains in Woomera searching for 11 asylum seekers who are stillon the run after escaping from the town's detention centre six days ago.
Some 196 police officers had been assigned to the town in South Australia's far north,following the escape of 50 detainees at the centre last Friday.
The mass breakout came during four consecutive days of protests outside the detentioncentre by about 800 demonstrators over the Easter long weekend.
Police have since recaptured 39 of the detainees.
Senior Constable STEVE ALEXANDER says the police reinforcements have since departedthe outback town, leaving him as the only officer in Woomera.
An Immigration Department spokeswoman says no detainees have been recaptured sinceTuesday and the mood inside the centre remains quiet today.
